His Grace Dr Mathews Mar Severios, Metropolitan of the Diocese of Kandanad is formally elected as the 9th Catholicos of the East, and 22nd Malankara Metropolitan. The 57th meeting of the Malankara Syrian Christian Association held at Parumala, Kerala on the 14th October 2021, the apex body of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, comprising priests and laity representatives from all parishes of the Church, ratified the Orthodox Church Synod's decision to enthrone H. G. Dr. Mathews Mar Severios Metropolitan as the next Catholicos of East and the Supreme Head of the Church.
We are excited about this new chapter in our church's history and look forward to the enhanced worship and community experiences it will bring.
We joyously hosted and celebrated the inaugural Sunday School Convocation, commemorating the outstanding achievements of our graduates.
The first period of our liturgical year begins at the end of October or at the beginning of November, on the Sunday between October 30th and November 5th. It is the beginning of the Orthodox Church calendar. This Sunday is called Koodhosh-Eetho Sunday. It means to “sanctify or purify the church.
