Third Sunday in Great Lent

Third Sunday in Great Lent ,M'Shariyo- Paralytic Sunday is celebrated on 13th of March 2022.

In the Indian Orthodox Church, we celebrate the third Sunday of Great Lent as 'Paralytic Sunday'. On this Sunday we commemorate the healing of the Paralytic who was lowered into a house.

In the Gospel Reading (Mark 2: 5) we read: "When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "Son, your sins are forgiven." In this passage we see Christ teaching us that he has the authority to forgive sin. The Gospel doesn’t tell us anything about the faith of the paralytic man nor does it tell us whether the Paralytic could speak or even his ability to speak was lost. Our Lord healed the Paralytic on seeing the faith of those four men who carried the Paralytic.

If the world shows no sign that it wants to be healed, then it too will continue to lie in the paralysis of its old hatreds and evil ways. Repentance is the sacrament that God gave us for our salvation. Repentance is the act of our co-labouring with the Creator; the miracle of transforming the old into new, dirty into clean, ill into the whole.
